Export and shipping
Every car on this site is sold for export out of Switzerland. Here is what that involves and who does what.
Agree the sale
Message the seller or call them, agree a price, and arrange payment and handover directly with them. SwissCarExport is the marketplace, not a party to the sale.
Collect the car
The listing shows the Swiss canton the car is in. That is the starting point for transport, whether you collect it yourself or book a carrier.
Export it
The car leaves Switzerland with export papers. Ask the seller which documents they can provide before you agree the sale.
Two transport legs
Getting a car from a Swiss driveway to your country is usually two separate journeys, and it helps to price them separately.
- ①Inside Switzerland — From the seller's canton to a collection point, port or border. Short, and usually the cheaper half.
- ②Switzerland to your country — By truck, train or ship, depending on the destination. Cost depends far more on the destination than on the car.
Documents to ask the seller for
- Typenschein (type certificate) — the Swiss vehicle data sheet
- Vehicle registration document (Fahrzeugausweis)
- A sales invoice or written sale contract
- Swiss customs export declaration
Requirements differ by destination country. Check what your own customs authority asks for before you pay for anything.
